Tour of our Summer 2015 Renovations to our GM 4106 Bus Conversion
This is an overview tour of the renovations we had completed in the summer 2015 at Master Tech RV to our 1961 PD-4106 Bus Conversion. We purchased our bus already converted in 2011, and have been doing projects as we go to make her own. In the summer 2015 we commissioned a bunch of new projects - including a new paint job, hydronics installation, new generator, new plumbing systems, new sofa, MCD shades, awnings and much much more. We'll update our general tour of the bus soon, so this update doesn't cover other updates we've done over the years. For a full run down of the project list, view our companion blog post: http://www.technomadia.com/2015/09/summer-2015-bus-renovations-tour-project-list/ For more information on our bus: http://www.technomadia.com/zephyr Product Mentions: Viair Air Compressor: http://amzn.to/1KhqPIp Onan 2500w Propane Generator: http://amzn.to/1hAsYnC Dometic Penguin2 AC: http://amzn.to/1hAt7r7 Dometic Thermostats: http://amzn.to/1hAtdz0 PrecisionTemp Jr: http://www.precisiontemp.com/rv-and-trailer/twintemp-junior-60000-btu-hydronic-tankless-water-heater-for-rv-and-trailer/ Folding Step 'Cat hook': http://amzn.to/1LQRUP0 LG Projector: http://amzn.to/1MM6T2q Projector 'Clip': http://amzn.to/1MM6Rrr Projector Fabric: http://amzn.to/1iPajoN Victron Inverter / Battery Monitors: http://www.technomadia.com/solar Thomas Payne Jack Knife Sofa: http://amzn.to/1iPaoc1 Denver RV Mattress: http://amzn.to/1LQRlVm Dometic 320 Toilet: http://amzn.to/1G5U0Zn Fantastic Fan 3350: http://amzn.to/1G5U37x Domestic Power Case Awning 9500: http://www.dometic.com/USA/MS-7207-Recreational-Vehicles/PG-7225-Awnings-Screen-Rooms-Slideout-Toppers/PG-9153-Case-Awnings/MD-123312-9500-Power-Case-Awnings/SK-123313-9500-Power-Case-Awning

Flexible RV Electrical Systems - Running an AC Off Battery, Solar & Hybrid Inverter
'Can you run an air conditioner off solar?'. A question so frequently asked. If you have a LOT of solar panels.. perhaps (see our article below for our analysis of what it would take). But most RV rooftops don't have enough space for air conditioners and enough panels to keep up. However, a combination of lots of batteries (in our case, 500AH of lithium or LiFePO4), solar and a hybrid/boosting inverter can provide for a lot of flexibility in being able to run an air conditioner outside of 50A campground hook-ups. While we were driveway surfing with friends and running our AC off a combination of a typical 15A household plug, solar and boosting off our batteries - we decided to turn the camera on and share with you howe we've enjoyed this flexibility for the past 5 years. Nothing fancy or overly produced... this was all off the cuff :) Here's our blog post that supplements this video with more information: http://www.technomadia.com/2016/06/running-an-rv-ac-off-solar-batteries-and-a-hybrid-boosting-inverter/ And even more articles we've written on the topic: Designing an RV to run A/C off Solar: http://www.technomadia.com/2015/02/the-almost-fantasy-of-solar-powered-rv-air-conditioning/ RV Solar - Is it Worth It?: http://www.technomadia.com/2015/11/rv-solar-is-it-worth-it/ Boosting Hybrid Inverters - Why We Love them: http://www.technomadia.com/2012/04/boosted-electrons-better-views/ Details of our Solar Installation: http://www.technomadia.com/solar Details & Research Notes of our Lithium Battery & Hybrid Inverter Setup: http://www.technomadia.com/lithium -------------------- Products shown/mentioned in this video: Victron MultiPlus 12/3000 Inverter: http://amzn.to/24qWEEJ (Alternative Magnum Hybrid Inverter: http://amzn.to/1KKDZZv) Victron Control Control GX: http://www.victronenergy.com/panel-systems-remote-monitoring/colorcontrol/ ------------------------ We hit the road in 2006 and haven’t stopped since. We arrived on our property in September of 2015 and had to get to work quickly to prepare for winter. This entailed installing our septic system, getting our travel trailer protected from the elements, and finding a way to keep things from freezing as we don't have access to power and don't run our generator non-stop. Getting to our land and getting situated wasn't cheap... visit our expense reports page to find out how much we have spent up until this point: Needless to say, we weren't eager to drop thousands of dollars on a well at this point in the game. We did, however, come up with a solution that works for us with minimal efforts. We know lots of you have your own ideas on alternative solutions such as IBC tanks, cisterns, water barrels, etc. We thought through many of these things and in the blog post, covered why we didn't use each one. If you have another idea after reading the blog post, then please let us know in the comments!
